Founders’ Club Award Presented to Austin Alumane

The Austin Area Alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was presented a Founders’ Club Award, today, at our International Convention in New Orleans.

This award is presented to chapters who raise $25,000 or more over the biennium for the ZTA Foundation.

We met this lofty goal thanks to the hard work of Lucy Netherton and Julia Ott, the past two chairs of our Celebration of Life Luncheons.

(You can help us reach that goal again in 2012 by donating to this year’s luncheon. We are seeking a few remaining event items and donations for the silent auction.)

Celebration of Life 2009

As we are gearing up for the 2010 Celebration of Life Luncheon, we wanted to share some of the images from last year’s event.

Seeking Silent Auction Items

Silent Auction

In addition to corporate sponsorships (.doc) and alumnae sponsorships (.doc), the Celebration of Life planning committee is seeking items for the Silent Auction at the event. Showcase your business at this fine event.

Audience

Attendees of the Celebration of Life include 200 involved, educated women from around Austin, coming from areas such as Westlake, Steiner Ranch and Northwest Hills with above average incomes, most in the top 1% of Austin. Generally the audience is mature with children who are of marrying age. This audience also has the tendency to plan large parties in their own homes and would seek design/catering assistance. Many of the women have a strong affinity for shopping at Julian Gold, our fashion show sponsor. Most of the audience has some tie to breast cancer (survivor or family of someone affected) and tend to purchase items that have supported breast cancer causes in the past.

Seek the noblest… Sponsor!

The Austin Area Alumane chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha hosts an annual luncheon to raise money for breast cancer research and support. The Celebration of Life honors survivors as models in a fashion show. In order to make as much money as possible for this worthy cause, we are seeking Sponsors and in-kind donations.

Celebration of Life Luncheon Raises $20,000+

We’d like to thank everyone who made it to the Celebration of Life Luncheon on October 30th, 2009. The luncheon was a great success with an excellent fashion show presented by Julian Gold. Not only were the fashions something we all wanted to wear, but the models were inspiring – all of them breast cancer survivors taking the run way for the cause. The guest speaker, Texas First Lady Anita Perry, made note of all of the Survivors in the room and spoke about fighting for a cure and the Silent Auction was very successful with great prizes including shopping sprees, signed memorabilia and weekends away courtesy of The Omni. We’re excited to announce that we raised $20,800 at this event and $17,500 will go to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation for breast cancer research and education and $3300 will be given locally as scholarships for Zetas at The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State and/or Southwestern University.

This could not have happened without the generous donations made at the event as well as the following sponsors:

JoDeane Bradford

Mary Walcutt

Nan Boettcher

Jean Andrews

Tricia & Todd Dugan

Paula Reinemund Duke

Karen Easterling

Lucy Netherton

Zeta Facts

The nine founders desired permanence to their friendships and hoped to perpetuate their sisterhood long after college. Though dedicated to the formation of a Greek-letter group, the band of nine delayed selecting a formal name. A temporary name of “???” was taken when, as legend has it, a member of another group met with the Founders.
