Rush/Recruitment

Do you know a PNM (Potential New Member) for Zeta?

This year we will have a Recruitment Q&A on April 8th. This alumnae meeting is open to all members and nonmembers that have a contact going through Recruitment. The information will have a focus on UT-Austin and Texas State, but will have information encompassing all Zeta Recruitment efforts.

Fall Rush will be here before we know it and our Key Woman, Peggy Vogt, is coordinating the MIS(pdf file) and support letters for our Texas collegiate chapters.

Deadlines
Deadlines for each college vary so please get your MIS File to Peggy by June 27 so she can organize them and get them to the appropriate school in a timely manner. Please contact Peggy if you are in need of additional time to appropriately gather information. Two versions of the MIS are attached for your use. One is pdf (adobe) and the other is .doc (word). Please mail to Peggy Vogt at 6708 Back Bay Ln, Austin, TX 78739.
Just a reminder that Peggy coordinates this function for our alumnae chapter. She can answer questions you have related to the MIS form but does not have any contact with the chapters or input in rush decisions.

If you would like to help the Kappa Chapter out during rush, we would love to have you help us with a rush dinner that the alumnae chapter provides to them after skit practice. If interested, please let Peggy Vogt know. Please also refer to the guidelines below.

Recruitment Packet

Recruitment Packet - recommended procedures from our State Reference Chairman - BJ Washburn

1. MIS FORM
- Completely filled out by a Zeta
- If you do not know the girl, mark the box, Information only, but add Please defer to the advisory board
- Make sure that all the information from the resume is included on the MIS form and if necessary use the back of the MIS form for the additional information. (The resume will be separated from the MIS form so this insures that all information is recorded.)

2. Pictures
- 2 photos 4×6 (doesn’t have to be a professional photo but try to encourage your friends to focus on the girl and not their surroundings – try not to use pets or the girl in trees or shrubs)
- 1 photo – full length
- 1 photo - head shot
- Write the girl’s name, hometown, and college on the back of each picture

3. Support Letters - 2 support letters
- Letters are written by Zetas other than the Zeta writing the MIS form.
- Letters should be personal - not letters that just reiterate the resume.
- Letters should be long enough to show you know the girl personally and you truly recommend her but not too wordy.
- When you sign the letter, please put your chapter name and your contact information.

4. Transcript

5. Resume
- Total number of hours of volunteer service if possible
- Indicate Legacy

*The packet is compiled by the Zeta writing the MIS form. When complete, please deliver to Peggy Vogt at 6708 Back Bay Ln, Austin, TX 78739.*

Legacy Moms - It is ok for you to fill out a MIS form and write a letter for your daughter. Speak of your own collegiate & alumnae experience. Ask other ZTA alumnae friends to write MIS and support letters for her. Also, make sure they know your daughter personally, even if that means setting up a meeting.

Volunteers for Kappa Chapter Recruitment

Thank you for your interest in assisting the ladies of the Kappa Chapter in our recruitment efforts this year!  We are honored to have you join us as we continue the traditions of this wonderful chapter which is more than 100 years old!

Parking Instructions:
Please park on the street near the house. Parking is limited at the Zeta House and we are not allowed to double park behind the actives’ cars. If your car is blocking the sidewalk you may be ticketed.

Arrival Instructions:
Please enter the house through the back door located in the parking lot on 27th street.  Alumnae are not allowed contact with the potential new members (PNM) and entering through the front door often disturbs the PNMs and the actives preparing for the start of parties.

Alumnae Support During Recruitment Parties:
Our primary goal as Alumnae is to demonstrate to PNMs and actives that being a Zeta is not just a commitment for 4 short years but it is something that we hope they will enjoy for a lifetime.  It is very important that PNMs see  familiar faces of both active and alumnae members.  At this emotionally stressful time, it is comforting for them to see the faces of women who care about their well being when they enter the house.  In addition to moral support for the PNMs, alumnae offer assistance to the chapter during rush by serving refreshments to the PNMs as they enter and exit the parties and by refreshing the facility between parties.

Recruitment Rules for Alumnae:
The University of Texas Panhellenic Council has adopted rules that govern the level of Alumnae involvement during recruitment.  These rules include the following:

Alumnae are not allowed to send PNMs anything related to Zeta or to call and discuss Zeta with them during Work Week or Recruitment Week.

Alumnae may send items to the Zeta chapter in support of a PNM or a group of PNMs (example: basket of candy from the San Antonio Alumnae or cups from Houston Alumnae)

During recruitment parties at the house, Alumnae may say hello, give a hug, or greet PNMs as they are handing out refreshments but they may have no other contact with PNMs besides that greeting.

Please remember that the consumption of alcohol on sorority property is strictly forbidden. Our National Charter and our insurance policy both prohibit alcohol either inside our facility or on our property. The Chapter is held accountable for the actions of both Alumnae and Active members during the recruitment process. The Actives are accountable for any and all violations of these rules.
